Start and the host engine

Every image card has Start. That call is POST /engine/containers/run and runs the image on the host engine on this server. You must be signed in as a developer. If there is no session, MoDPR sends you to /login?next= and returns you to the same page.

A private tag such as YOUR_USER/your-image:v1 is prefixed with this registry host before it runs. A short public name such as nginx is not prefixed. A remote name that already has a host in the first path segment (quay.io/…, ghcr.io/…) is not prefixed.

The Engine screens list containers, images, volumes, and networks labeled as yours. PaaS replicas are labeled modpr.paas=true and are managed from Projects, not from Engine Start. The Compose stack that runs MoDPR itself is hidden. Engine Images is the host Docker cache — not Hub Image management. Star on a private repository updates the star count when you are signed in. Pull count only moves on a real client pull.

Public catalog names (nginx, images from GHCR, Quay, GCR, ECR, GitLab, and the public library) are a start list. Start pulls that public image onto this host. Private tags are blobs you pushed to this registry.
